We have a love for the world and all its splendour, and we want to keep it that way. That’s why we want to do our best to ensure that we are responsible in everything we do. We believe that experiencing these unique destinations comes hand-in-hand with protecting them. Sustainability is of the upmost importance to us, we want to protect theses wonderful and unique destinations for future generations to come.
Protecting the environment in these areas is one way in which we aim to do this. We know that international travel can sometimes be heavy on the environment, and so we are conscious to minimise our impact. Reducing the waste we produce and sourcing our supplies locally, will hopefully help us to reduce any unnecessary environmental impact. You also won’t find any of our trips supporting the exploitation of animals. We believe that experiencing a culture doesn’t have to be at the detriment to animals and for this reason you’ll never find us visiting Tiger temples or Elephant trekking.
Our responsibility to the countries and regions we visit is not just limited to the environment. All of our tours have been hand picked because of the unique experiences on offer. By utilising experienced local guides we can ensure that our travels minimise our impact culturally too. We want to make sure that the only lasting impressions we leave are good ones and that our love of photography does not come before our responsibility as citizens of the world to look out for each other. We want to promote cross-cultural understanding and mutual respect. We also make sure that all the local guides and staff are paid above the average salary for all their hard work, just the same as we’d expect.
To ensure the sustainability of these regions we also want to positively impact the local economy of the places we visit. For us this means living local, purchasing our supplies locally, using local transport companies and accommodation, and sampling some of the local cuisine at restaurants and eateries in the area. We do this because we want to put money in the pockets of those that live there, to add something to the area rather than just take. This way we can make sure that these areas are prosperous for years to come.
Traveller Code of Conduct
As a traveller with Intrepid Exposures we expect you to adhere to the same ethos and values that underpin all of our tours. Before each tour we will provide each individual with information covering the destination countries and any important social and political understanding that may be beneficial to the tour. We expect you to read through this information and act accordingly. We also expect all travellers to attempt to minimise the effect they have on the destination country. We expect you to be conscious of water use and waste disposal, and also to consider the effects of your actions to minimise negative damage to local culture, wildlife and the environment. We will be happy to give you guidance on this as we travel.
As a tour operator, working in unique locations, we feel that this is the least we can do. We’re always looking for new ways to travel more responsibly and more sustainably. If you have any feedback or suggestions on how we can improve, please don’t hesitate to get in contact with us via email using our contact form.
